B.A.D. Garcia v Lopez

Tonight there's an interesting fight on HBO BAD. Juan Manuel Lopez is fighting Mikey Garcia.
In boxing there's an age old rivalry between Mexican and Puerto Rican fighters which is mostly perpetuated and accepted by their respective fans. Lopez is Puerto Rican and Garcia is Mex-Am. That's only really one of a few interesting watching points. Another is it's at the AAC in Dallas which is close to home. If the fight draws well then there will be a new venue to rival Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington as possible destinations for future tilts.
More interesting is the recent history of each fighter. Lopez was a hot and rising superstar the next big drawn or so many thought. Then a year or so ago he got stretched in what was to be a routine title defense against Orlando Salado. He claimed it was a fluke then was proven wrong in the rematch. His star is in danger of fading. Mikey Garcia is a damned fine boxer. He's very technically sound, which isn't surprising since he's from a family of fighters and trainers.
The news just came out that Garcia failed to make weight and so will be stripped of his title and will have to give Lopez around 100K to keep the fight on. I think this is a fight worth watching since Lopez seems to really need it and Garcia looks to have some egg on his face for what is thought of in the fight game as an inexcusable mistake.
